Umar Akmal finally admits that a bookie approached him before the start of the 5th edition of the Pakistan Super League 2020 and offered him money for match-fixing.
During the interview with the Pakistan Cricket Board Anti-Corruption Unit, Umar Akmal confessed that he was offered 50 million PKR by a suspicious Bookie he met in a private gathering. Bookie wanted him to fix matches of the PSL 2020.
When Anti-Corruption Unit asked Umar Akmar why did he not inform the board about the bookie, Umar Akmal said he was “perplexed and panicked”.

Failing to report such an approach for match-fixing is considered an offense as per the ICC ACU.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) According to Article 4.7.1, PCB suspends Umar Akmal with immediate effect under Anti-Corruption Law,
Umar Akmal was suspended from all cricket-related activities.
Since Quetta Gladiators had a chance to pick his replacement, Quetta Gladiators have picked Anwar Ali as Akmal’s replacement.
